Concrete is a construction material that is applicable in all areas of construction. This applies in particular to reinforced concrete, i.e. concrete reinforced with steel rods, from which construction is made not only of residential, public or industrial buildings, but also transport, water, etc.
The right concrete for our interiors
Concrete, however, does not have to be used only in construction. Increasingly, it is also used as a finishing material, primarily on the facades and interiors of various types of buildings.
In buildings with modern architecture concrete ceilings and walls made of concrete are more and more often left in whole or only fragments in the raw state. In such an unfinished form, these elements perform not only a construction function, but also a decorative one.
That it could be so, you have to do it very carefully, from a properly designed and properly compacted concrete mixture. Fresh concrete must also be properly cared for during the initial cementing period. This aesthetically-looking concrete is called architectural.
Elements of architectural concrete are used not only in elevations and interiors of offices and public utility buildings, but also in residential buildings. In interiors built by developers of multi-family houses, architectural concrete is found mainly in the parts of common halls and stairwells. This applies less to apartments, as not all of their buyers may be satisfied with such a modern, but minimalist interior design.
Is the assembly of GFRC panels difficult?
The growing popularity of architectural concrete in housing, also single-family housing, is associated not only with the prevailing fashion for industrial, raw interiors. This is largely due to the very good utility parameters and decorative concrete claddings. They owe them to the excellent properties of cement, which is a binder used for their production.
It should only be remembered that they are relatively heavy, so they must be fixed on the walls with strong adhesives, using previously primer with a sharp grain size. You can also use special anchors or screws to fix them.
